Aims of Life Knowledge Park

The primary aims of Life Knowledge Park are:

  • To create a world class genetics research centre aims at fundamental improvements in human health
  • To facilitate commercial development, forging a strong regional capability in post-genomic technologies
  • To strengthen links with the NHS to enable emerging discoveries to be evaluated and applied in innovative healthcare
  • To create a forum to promote genome-related education and ethical debate
  • To explore the social consequences of developments in the Life Sciences

Life Knowledge Park is based on and at the International Centre for Life, and is one of their key components. It has a unique core research interest in genetic instability related to ageing, cancer and early human development.  It has a second focus on stem cell biology as a basis for novel therapeutics.  It is a primary focus for NHS commercial partnership in the Knowledge Park network.
