Life Knowledge Park

Funding

Following a competitive bidding process, the then Northern Genetics Knowledge Park was awarded a total from the Department of Health and the Department of Trade and Industry of just under £3.5 million over the 5 years of the project.

In the North East, we have been particularly fortunate to have additional support and encouragement from our Regional Development Agency, One North East (ONE). ONE subsequently agreed to invest a further £6.3 million in the project,  which by then had been renamed the ‘Life Knowledge Park’ in recognition of our unique links with the rest of the science village at the Centre for Life.  ONE’s funding was particularly designed to commercialise our Research and Development outputs and to secure some major infrastructural investments which were recognised as being required to underpin the future of both the Knowledge Crucible and stem cell facilities.
