Genetic Support

alix groom

I’m Alix Groom, the Genetic Support Development Worker at the Life Knowledge Park in Newcastle and I work closely with the Northern Genetics Service.   How is my role relevant to you and in which ways am I able to help?

Whether you have a genetic condition, or are a family member or carer of somebody who has a genetic condition, I can help you find the most appropriate information and support group for your needs.

I’m helping to develop a regional network of genetic support groups in the North East.  If you are involved with a local genetic support group I would really like to hear from you as the network is being created to help support local groups like yours.  The aim of the network is to identify and address the issues and needs which are shared by genetic support groups in the region.

If you are thinking of starting a new support group I can give you guidance on how to set up a group.    Need a meeting room?  At the Institute of Human Genetics, in Newcastle, there is a meeting room which can be used for free by new or already established groups.

Do you think I may be able to help you?  Would you like to know more about what I do?  If so please get in contact.

I can be contacted at Alix Groom, Life Knowledge Park, Institute of Human Genetics, Central Parkway, Newcastle upon Tyne. NE1 3BZ.
